Privacy Policy for Omega Browser Agent

Introduction
Omega Browser Agent ("the Extension") is a browser automation tool that connects to your own local or cloud AI inference backends. This privacy policy explains how we handle data within the Extension.
Data Collection and Usage
What Data We Access
The Extension accesses the following data solely to perform browser automation tasks you explicitly request:
- Page Content: HTML structure, visible text, links, buttons, and form elements from the web pages you visit -- used only when you send an automation task
- Tab Information: URLs and titles of browser tabs -- used to navigate and manage the agent workspace tab
- Screenshots: Visual captures of web pages -- used only when you explicitly request a screenshot or when the AI agent needs visual context for a task
What We Do NOT Collect
- No Telemetry: The Extension does not send any analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports to external servers
- No Tracking: We do not track your browsing history, search queries, or online behavior
- No Third-Party Data Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or share any data with third parties
How Your Data Is Processed
- Local keys: API keys you enter (OpenRouter) are stored locally on this browser profile in
chrome.storage.local. They are treated as passwords and redacted from logs, task history, and last-run traces. - Local processing: Browser automation runs locally within your browser. Page content is sent only to the inference backend you configured — a local server on this machine, or your own OpenRouter account. Omega does not operate a shared cloud key.
- Inference backend: The AI model you configure receives page context to generate automation actions. That data is subject to your chosen backend's privacy policy:
- Local backends (Ollama / Omega-Portable Lite, LM Studio): Data never leaves your machine
- OpenRouter (your key): Data is sent to OpenRouter's API under their privacy policy (https://openrouter.ai/privacy)
- Settings: Backend URL, model name, preferences, and keys are stored locally using
chrome.storage.local - Account session: If you sign in, the Extension stores your email, user id, and session token locally and sends credentials only to the production account backend. The default production account backend is
https://omegabrowseragent.app. Paid plan status is fetched from that backend. The Extension does not treat a local checkbox as Pro.
Chat transcript vs task history
- Chat transcript: In-panel conversation text is ephemeral. It is cleared after each completed agent run and when you use Clear chat. Clear chat does not delete operational task history.
- Task history: The Extension stores an operational task history locally (prompt, sites visited / final URL, and outcome). It is capped (about 50 recent tasks) and stays on this browser profile until you uninstall the Extension.
- Session / last-run traces: Temporary traces used for recovery are stored locally, overwritten on the next task, and redacted of secret-like strings.
Permissions Explanation
The Extension requests the following permissions for functional purposes only:

Data Retention and Deletion
- Settings and API keys: Stored locally until you uninstall the Extension
- Task history: Stored locally, capped, until you uninstall the Extension. Clear chat does not wipe task history
- Chat transcript: Cleared after each completed agent task and when you use Clear chat
- Session data: Task traces are stored temporarily for recovery and are overwritten on the next task
- Account records: If you create an account, email and plan status are stored by the account backend at https://omegabrowseragent.app until you request deletion
Uninstalling the Extension deletes local Extension data for this browser profile (settings, keys, task history, and traces). Clear chat only clears the in-panel transcript.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated policy posted at https://omegabrowseragent.app/privacy and the Extension's listing page.
